“Relax” (clip 1 min.) 2007, color video with sound, 1:30 min. loop In “Relax” a scene from the film Body Double was digitally remixed and recomposed. The scene also doubles as the music video for Relax, the quintessential 1980s pop song by the band Frankie Goes To Hollywood. (The orignal video was censored by MTV for its risqué S&M queer sexual content.) Mimicking the hands of a DJ, I used the online Youtube.com video player to scratch the shared video, creating a series of distorted, glitchy, looping sequences. The sequences were then digitized and re-edited to create a new, hyper- energized audio-visual remix.
